Fasting is about asking God to take the physical hunger we feel and give us a spiritual hunger for Him!
Senior Pastor, Bryan Jones
Why should we fast?
Fasting is a matter of the heart expressed by abstaining from food. Jesus expected His followers to pray, give, and fast. We fast because some breakthroughs only come through prayer and fasting (Mark 9:29).
What is a fast, and how should you do it?
The word fast means to abstain from food. In Scripture, we see examples such as Esther's full fast and Daniel's partial fast.
- Abstain from food and take liquids only.
- Fast from sun up to sun down.
- Fast from one meal each day.
What if I have a medical condition?
If you have a diagnosed medical condition or take medications that could be impacted by fasting from food, please consult your healthcare provider to determine what type of fasting is safe and appropriate for you. We are not medical professionals, and your health needs should guide your specific plan. If a food-based fast is not medically advisable, you are encouraged to participate through a focused abstention from something you regularly rely on (such as media, entertainment, or other habits) so that you can fully engage in this season of prayer and sacrifice.
How can I grow closer to God while fasting?
Use your mealtime to pray or read devotionals. Hunger reminds you of your dependence on God and what you're seeking breakthrough in.
